6pm-10pm. 28th Annual National Night Out. 28th Annual National Night Out crime and drug prevention event is sponsored by the National Association of Town Watch (NATW) and co-sponsored locally by the Amsterdam Police Department, in conjunction with the Amsterdam Neighborhood Watch; and is being supported by Target, a national corporate sponsor.
It will be held from 6-10pm, residents in neighborhoods throughout Amsterdam are asked to lock their doors, turn on their porch lights and spend the evening with neighbors, police, and community organizations. Amsterdam's NNO will be held at Veteran's Field, on Locust Ave, and will include many fun and educational activities for people of all ages.
Some of the activities scheduled for the night includes: APD k-9 demonstration; Child Watch of North America Kid Guard ID cards sponsored by the Professional Wrestling Hall of Fame; Amsterdam Fire Dept. and GAVAC equipment display; Amsterdam Neighborhood Watch informational booth; Food & Craft vendors; American Legion Post 701 booth; Amsterdam Police Explorers; Kyle's Bounce House; live music provided by DJ Mike Sylvia; and Make your own sundaes donated by Stewarts.
